Just over three months ago Michael Hilton of N. I.H.E. approached Helm Housing Community Co-ordinators Martin Kearney and John Leathem with an idea for a school project, this idea was founded on a world cup theme.
In conjunction with the Cherry residents group, St Luke's Primary School, and Lisburn council, an ECO World Cup competition was run.

Ireland's first private-leasing scheme for social housing undertaken by a housing association was launched on the 30th June by the Minister for Housing & Local Services, Michael Finneran TD in Athy, Co Kildare. It was a double celebration for Helm on its tenth birthday in the Republic of Ireland.

The West Belfast Partnership's annual Community Environment Awards was launched on 8th June in the fitting surroundings of the scenic Falls Park Pavilion. Now in its eighth year, the successful initiative has grown from strength to strength, recognising the local environmental achievements of projects from across the west of the city.

Residents from Helm Housing's Scrabo Manor scheme in Newtownards are celebrating that their "Field of Hope", in aid of Marie Curie Cancer Care, is in full bloom!
Helm Housing (previously BIH Housing), NI's largest housing association, came on board last year as sponsors for the Marie Curie Fields of Hope campaign for a two year period.
An estimated 50,000 daffodil bulbs were planted by staff and tenants in over 50 Helm Housing schemes across Northern Ireland last autumn, offering a symbol of hope to hundreds of local people who are living with end-of-life illnesses and who depend on Marie Curie Cancer Care for support for themselves and their families.

The opening of Springwell Lodge, Groomsport took place on 25th March 2010. Springwell Lodge is designed to cater for older people, aged 55 and over.
The opening of Woodgate Lodge, Belfast Road, Bangor took place on 28 April 2010.
The opening of Abbots Court, Newtownabbey sees the completion of the second successful project with the Northern Ireland Health and Social Care Trust.

Staff at Helm Housing have embraced the 'New Year, new wardrobe' concept with a view to helping Marie Curie Cancer Care raise further funds for its invaluable work. As a result, patrons of Marie Curie charity shops will be stepping into spring in style due to the 60 bags of clothing and accessories recently donated by Helm Housing staff.
The venture is the latest initiative in Helm Housing's fundraising efforts for its charity partner Marie Curie Cancer Care. Staff and tenants from the housing association have already raised an impressive £7,000 in the first five months of its partnership.
